This favela is choc-a-bloc with kids.

We looked up and stumbled upon a beautiful smile!

Football in the narrowest of streets!

Jay, these photos are so amazing. not only for the quality of photography but because it's always refreshing to see Rio from the eyes of a non citizen. The shot on the bus is something so familiar to me, that I've seen my whole life and would go unnoticed and unappreciated...among other things like the kids playing 'futebol' at the narrowest street at Rocinha. They would play it up on a roof if they had to :) It makes me so happy when I encounter people that can appreciate culture like you do. Because for some, it's hard to overlook the dirty and violent side of Rio. But when you do, you find those moments that (like Karen Miller says) "make life worth living" :) (like the shot of the banana tree with the beach on the background. Ahhhh :)
